Rams Roll Past LA Pierce in Home Opener, 55-7

The Victor Valley College Rams kicked off their 2025 football season in dominant fashion with a 55-7 victory over LA Pierce on Saturday, September 6th. The Rams lit up the scoreboard early and often, combining explosive offense with a relentless defense to secure the win at home.
Offensive Explosion
Quarterback Seth Burbine led the charge, throwing for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns on 14-of-20 passing. He connected with Cael Meisman for all three scores, including a 46-yard strike. Tremel Echols added 110 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 40 yards and a score.
The Rams' ground game was equally impressive. Carlos Amplayo rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on just 5 carries, averaging 14.0 yards per attempt. Teshawn Cleveland, Jayon Gillett, and Shaylon Young contributed to the team's 238 rushing yards, with Gillett adding a rushing touchdown.
Receiving Standouts
The Rams' receiving corps showcased depth and speed. Darren Gandy led with 92 yards on 4 catches, while Ricky Sampson added 77 yards and a touchdown. Don Henry contributed 68 yards and a score, and Cael Meisman finished with 63 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Special Teams & Defense
Kicker Angel Montero Sanchez was flawless, converting all 7 extra point attempts and averaging 56.9 yards on kickoffs. Lucas Allen handled punting duties with a 17-yard punt.
Defensively, the Rams were relentless. Gabriel Garcia Jr led with 7 solo tackles and a sack. John Swain recorded an interception return for 6 yards, and the defense totaled 3 sacks and held LA Pierce to just 144 total yards and 6 first downs.
Game Trends
The Rams scored on drives ranging from 1 to 7 plays, demonstrating both quick-strike capability and sustained offensive execution. With 572 total yards and a balanced attack, the Rams controlled every phase of the game.
