Victor Valley College's women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Norco College in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) showdown on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at home. The Rams showcased resilience and determination, securing their first conference win of the season and improving their overall record to 6-5-2.
The match remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams battling for control and momentum. VVC's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Sarah Fort, stood tall throughout the contest. Fort played all 90 minutes and recorded two crucial saves, keeping Norco off the scoreboard and earning a clean sheet for her efforts.
The breakthrough came in the 76th minute when forward Violet Whiting found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead they would not relinquish. Whiting's strike was one of her three shots on the night, two of which were on target, making her the standout offensive performer of the match.
VVC outshot Norco 12-5, with nine of those shots on goal compared to Norco's two. Islet Montes contributed two shots on goal, while Haley Pratt and Cristal Magana each added pressure with multiple attempts. Wendy Martinez and Denise Jimenez also registered shots on target, helping to keep Norco's defense on high alert.
The Rams dominated the second half, not only in scoring but also in creating opportunities, earning four corner kicks while preventing Norco from registering any. Despite a yellow card issued to Norco in the 83rd minute, VVC maintained composure and control to close out the match.
With this victory, Victor Valley College moves to 1-2-0 in IEAC play, signaling a strong push as the season progresses. The team's next challenge will be to build on this momentum and continue climbing the conference standings.
