In a dramatic and unforgettable finish, the Victor Valley College (VVC) Men's Wrestling team clinched its third consecutive SEWCA Championship, marking a triumphant start to the tenure of Head Coach Adam Valdez. The championship match came down to the wire, culminating in a heart-pounding final bout that saw Elias Casas deliver a clutch performance to tie the score and secure the victory on criteria.
The championship dual meet was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams trading wins throughout the night. VVC's wrestlers showcased grit, determination, and resilience, embodying the spirit of champions.
The night began with a strong start for VVC:
- 133 lbs – Paulo Valdez set the tone early, pinning Dominic Marquez for a decisive win by fall.
- 141 lbs – Rocky Humphrey followed suit, overpowering Jeo Navarette and earning another fall for the Rams.
- 149 lbs – Angel Salgado battled through a nail-biting match, edging out Luke Vanbrabant with a hard-fought 8-7 decision.
- 157 lbs – Chris Guerrero dominated his opponent Kaden Pryor, winning by technical fall and adding crucial points to VVC's tally.
However, the momentum shifted midway through the meet:
- 165 lbs – Abdon Rodriguez fell to Marshall Beecham by technical fall.
- 174 lbs – Everardo Gonzalez was defeated by fall.
- 184 lbs – Dane Holm lost to Kodie Cooks by technical fall.
- 197 lbs – Daylen Bell faced a tough challenge against #1-ranked Preston Sharf at 165 lbs and came up short.

With the score standing at 25-20 in favor of the opposition heading into the final match, the pressure was squarely on 125 lbs – Elias Casas. In a performance that will be remembered for years to come, Casas took the mat against Johny Navarette and delivered a technical fall victory, tying the score at 25-25.
The championship then came down to criteria — and VVC emerged victorious, earning the decisive point and securing the SEWCA title once again.
