Women’s Basketball Delivers Winning Season and Postseason Run in 2025–26
The Victor Valley College women's basketball team capped off an impressive 2025–26 season with a winning record, a strong conference finish, and a return to postseason play, continuing the program's upward trajectory within the Inland Empire Athletic Conference and Southern California region.
The Rams finished the season 18–10 overall and 9–5 in conference play, showcasing consistency, depth, and competitive toughness throughout one of the most successful campaigns in recent program history.
Strong Start and Conference Success
Victor Valley set the tone early in the season with dominant performances and continued that momentum into conference play. The Rams opened IEAC action with an emphatic 86–23 victory over Barstow, one of several games that highlighted the team's defensive intensity and ability to control all four quarters.
Throughout conference competition, the Rams collected key road victories and remained in the upper tier of the standings, finishing with a winning record against league opponents. Close wins at Desert and San Bernardino Valley demonstrated the team's ability to execute in late‑game situations and handle pressure on the road.
Statement Wins and Notable Performances
Among the season's defining moments was a statement 53–49 victory over state‑ranked No. 24 Long Beach City College, a win that showcased Victor Valley's defensive discipline, rebounding presence, and ability to compete with top programs in California.
The Rams also delivered several lopsided wins, including dominant performances against Palo Verde and Barstow, emphasizing their depth and ability to overwhelm opponents with sustained pressure on both ends of the floor.
Balanced Team Play and Defensive Identity
Victor Valley averaged over 70 points per game while building a defensive identity that consistently disrupted opponents and controlled the glass. The Rams were especially effective in rebounding, averaging over 54 rebounds per game, creating extra possessions and limiting second‑chance opportunities throughout the season.
Offensively, the Rams shared the basketball well, generating scoring opportunities through ball movement, transition play, and strong interior presence. Multiple players stepped up in key moments, reflecting the team's depth and collective approach rather than reliance on a single scorer.
Postseason Appearance and Program Momentum
The Rams' strong regular‑season performance earned them a berth in the Southern California Regional playoffs, marking another postseason appearance for the program and reinforcing Victor Valley's position as a consistent contender in the region.
While the postseason run came to an end in the opening round, the experience provided valuable opportunities for growth and reinforced the standard the program continues to build toward.
Looking Ahead
With a winning culture firmly established and meaningful postseason experience gained, the 2025–26 season stands as another important step forward for Victor Valley College women's basketball. The Rams' success, competitive mindset, and resilience throughout the year set a strong foundation as the program turns its focus toward continued growth and future championships.
