Bio
Joshua Blodgett joins the Victor Valley College Men's Soccer coaching staff with more than 25 years of coaching experience spanning the collegiate, UPSL, NPSL, club, high school, military, and international levels. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the United States Men's Over-40 National Team while continuing to develop players at the collegiate, high school, and club levels. Throughout his career, Blodgett has developed successful programs and student-athletes through a coaching philosophy rooted in technical development, tactical intelligence, servant leadership, and accountability.
Blodgett also serves as the boys' varsity and junior varsity assistant coach and coach mentor at Riverside Preparatory High School. He has coached in both the UPSL and NPSL, helping players progress to higher levels through technical, tactical, and individual development.
Before joining Victor Valley College, Blodgett led both the boys' and girls' varsity soccer programs at Apple Valley High School, guiding each to Mojave River League Championships while compiling a combined 42-20-9 varsity record and four CIF Southern Section playoff appearances. His teams produced 12 All-League selections and helped more than 20 student-athletes advance to collegiate soccer. His coaching experience also includes Desert Communities Soccer Club (DCSC), Apple Valley Storm Soccer Club, PRIDE Soccer Club, Coronado High School, and multiple men's amateur and military programs.
A retired United States Army veteran, Blodgett served 22 years in leadership positions across operations, logistics, training, and multiple overseas combat deployments. His military experience continues to influence his coaching by emphasizing discipline, resilience, teamwork, and character.
As both a player and coach, Blodgett has represented the United States in military soccer. He competed internationally with the United States Armed Forces National Team in Brazil, Egypt, South Korea, and Suriname and remains the All-Time Leading Scorer in Armed Forces Tournament history. He later served as an assistant coach on the 2015 All-Army Men's Soccer Team that won the Armed Forces Gold Medal. Earlier in his playing career, Blodgett competed in Germany with DJK Schweinfurt.
Blodgett holds a United States Soccer Federation National C License and is currently completing his USSF National B License. He also holds United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Level I and II certifications and earned bachelor's degrees in Business Administration (Finance) from DeVry University and Criminal Justice from Ashford University.
