Men’s Basketball Shows Resilience, Growth During 2025–26 Season
The Victor Valley College men's basketball team wrapped up the 2025–26 season with a campaign defined by perseverance, competitive growth, and several standout performances that highlighted the program's potential moving forward. While the win‑loss column did not fully reflect the effort and development shown throughout the year, the Rams consistently competed against a challenging Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule and demonstrated flashes of the culture the program continues to build.
Victor Valley finished the season with seven overall victories, including five conference wins, and showed the ability to rise to the occasion in key moments against strong opponents.
Signature Wins and Competitive Performances
Among the season's highlights were several impressive victories that showcased the Rams' offensive firepower and ability to execute in high‑pressure situations. Victor Valley delivered one of its most complete performances of the year with a 118–102 win over Palo Verde, lighting up the scoreboard and demonstrating depth and balance on the offensive end.
The Rams also earned statement conference wins, including a dramatic 67–66 road victory at Cerro Coso and a hard‑fought 64–60 triumph over Copper Mountain. Both wins reflected the team's resilience and ability to compete late in close games, a key area of growth as the season progressed.
Another notable performance came in a dominant 116–74 victory over Desert, highlighting the Rams' ability to control tempo, share the basketball, and finish possessions on both ends of the floor.
Offensive Production and Team Effort
Throughout the season, Victor Valley averaged over 75 points per game, with multiple contests featuring strong shooting nights and efficient ball movement. The Rams posted solid shooting percentages from the field and three‑point range, while continuing to emphasize attacking the basket and playing unselfish basketball.
The team's assist numbers reflected an offense built on ball movement and collective effort, while rebounding and defensive pressure remained areas of emphasis as the season unfolded. Several games were decided by single possessions, underscoring the team's competitiveness even in difficult stretches of the schedule.
Young Roster, Valuable Experience
With a roster featuring a mix of freshmen and sophomores, the 2025–26 season provided valuable experience for a young group of Rams. Multiple underclassmen were thrust into key roles, gaining meaningful minutes against conference opponents and building a foundation for future seasons. That experience, particularly in late‑game situations and road environments, will be instrumental as the program continues to develop.
Building Toward the Future
While the season presented its challenges, the growth shown throughout the year—especially in conference play—serves as a positive indicator for the future of Victor Valley men's basketball. The Rams remained competitive, battled through adversity, and continued to lay the groundwork for sustained success.
As the program turns the page toward the offseason, the lessons learned and progress made during the 2025–26 campaign will be key stepping stones in the continued development of Victor Valley College men's basketball.
