The Victor Valley College Men's Basketball team, under the direction of third year Head Coach William Funn, enters the 2025 season with high expectations and a renewed focus on defense and rebounding. The Rams will open their season on the road at Santa Monica College on Saturday, November 1 at 5:00 p.m. The first home game is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4 at 6:00 p.m. against Palomar College.
Coach Funn returns a talented core of players, including Derrick Hankins (guard), LaTravion Jones (point guard), and Raoul Churchill (shooting guard). These returners will be joined by several newcomers: Quinton Aguilar (forward), Lajai Jackson (forward), Jasean Phillips (guard), Josiah Williams (guard), and Komari Lewis (forward).
"This team has high expectations. Our main goal is to end in the top three in conference and make the playoffs. Our main focus is on the defensive end. Defense and rebounding," said Coach Funn.
The coaching staff is looking forward to seeing the team's hard work pay off as the season progresses. "I am looking forward to seeing this team grow together throughout the season. All the hard work in the offseason that was put in is coming to fruition," Funn added.
While every league game is important, the team is especially looking forward to the Antelope Valley Tournament, where they hope to bring home a first-place trophy.
With a blend of experienced returners and promising newcomers, Victor Valley College Men's Basketball is prepared to compete with intensity and pride throughout the 2025 season.
