As a player, Coach Slover prepped 4 Varsity seasons at South Hills High School (West
Covina). During his career, Coach Slover was part of 4 league championships and 2 C.I.F.
Championships. Slover was a team captain and received All-League, All-C.I.F., and all San
Gabriel Valley selections in both his Junior and Senior seasons as a Defensive Lineman
and Center.
Despite having garnered attention from college recruiters Coach Slover suffered an ACL
knee injury to end his high school career and decided to attend community college at
Fullerton College. While at Fullerton College, Coach Slover was part of back-to-back
undefeated league championship teams and appeared in the Southern California
Semi-Finals two years in a row. Individually while at Fullerton Coach Slover was part of
the teams’ leadership council and received a total of 12 offers before choosing Chadron
State. While at Chadron State, Coach Slover did not compete after suffering a shoulder
injury and undergoing a 3rd knee procedure. Slover, then finished his collegiate playing
career at Western New Mexico University (WNMU) as part of the team’s leadership
council and representative for the student athlete advisory committee.
Slover earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (2013) with a minor in Coaching,
and a Master of Arts in Education and Educational Leadership (2015). Outside of
Coaching, Slover has been an adjunct professor at VVC, Western New Mexico University
and, Chaffey College teaching in the kinesiology and athletics. After graduating
with a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in coaching, Slover was immediately offered a
job at his Alma Mater, WNMU.
Slover began his coaching career with the running backs. In his first year with the
running backs, working with senior running back Abe Macias, Slover guided Abe to break
the then school record for rushing yards per game and rushing yards in a single season,
while Macias earned All-RMAC honors.
In year two Slover was moved to the defensive side of the ball coaching the defensive
line and remained in that role for 2 total seasons. Each year helping the unit break their
previous season sacks and sacks per game total while also placing 3 Defensive Lineman
on the All-RMAC team.
Slover was hired at Chaffey College in April 2016 to Coach the defensive line. In his first
season he continued his trend of breaking the previous seasons sack per game
total. That season also saw coach Slover mentor true freshman Kelon Ferdinand to 2nd
team all National-Central Conference. After that season Coach Slover helped multiple
defensive lineman earn scholarships to the next level including: Kia Higgins (Purdue),
Joseph Sanchez (Oklahoma Baptist), Titus Stewart (Oklahoma Baptist), Kyon Clark
(Fort Hays State), and Chris Roach (Robert Morris)
In his second season at Chaffey College, the Defensive line was a bright spot for the
defense. The defensive line led the team in every defensive statistical category outside
of overall tackles. This proved to be a very talented unit as multiple players went on to
sign scholarship offers to continue their career. Dominion Ezinwa (UNLV), Vincent
Elefante (Liberty University), Erick Garcia (Texas Southern), Kelon Ferdinand
(Missouri-Western), and Vincent Lovett (Western State Colorado).
In his third season at Chaffey College and first as the Defensive Coordinator, the

first in the state in rush yards allowed per Game (53.5) and Defensive
TDs (8). They were also top 3 in total yards per game allowed (248.4) and points per

Defense held opponents to 12.4 points per game to rank 1st in southern
California. Other rankings in the top 5 statewide include opp. total yards per game at
253 and opp. pass yards per game at 159 yards, both top 5 respectively. The trend also
continued with multiple defensive players signing to 4-year colleges including: Gary
Theard (UTEP), Francisco Jimenez (Samford), Musa Traylor (Fort Lewis College),
Simeon Burns (Chowan), David Martinez (Sioux Falls), Tayari Venable (Black Hills

presenting at the national convention for the American Football Coaches Association as
1 of only 4 community college coaches selected. Unfortunately, the Chaffey College
football program did not compete in 2020 because of the corona virus pandemic.
In 2021, Chaffey College returned to action safely and successfully while also being
able to compete in all games and practices without any pandemic related cancellations.
Despite many obstacles presented by the return from the pandemic many defensive
student athletes returned to action and earned scholarships to 4-year colleges including
all-conference safety Almani Bishop (Central Washington), Psyer Blakely (Adams
State), Xavier Brayboy (New Mexico Highlands), Noah Villa (Graceland), Matthew Lara
(Arizona Christian), and Daniel Miles (Central Methodist University).
