Los Angeles, CA
The Victor Valley College Rams football team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday November, 8th, 2025, defeating LA Southwest College 39-14 to clinch the American Metro Conference Championship outright. With this victory, the Rams not only secured back-to-back titles—having shared the championship last season—but also earned the right to host the American Division Championship Bowl Game on Sunday, November 16th at 3:00 PM.
In his third season at the helm, Head Coach David Slover praised his team's effort and resilience. "This group has battled all season long," Slover said. "To come out here and dominate like that, on the road, in a championship-clinching game—it speaks volumes about their heart and preparation."
Quarterback Seth Burbine led the offensive charge, completing an impressive 25 of 32 passes (78%) for 322 yards and a touchdown. His precision and poise in the pocket kept the Rams offense humming throughout the game.
The receiving corps was electric, with Ricky Sampson hauling in 5 catches for 85 yards, while Darren Gandy added 5 receptions for 65 yards, including a touchdown. Don Henry contributed 55 yards on 5 catches, Cael Meisman added 50 yards on 4 receptions, and Teyshawn Cleveland chipped in with 3 catches for 31 yards.
On the ground, the Rams were equally dominant. Carlos Amplayo made the most of his opportunities, rushing for 27 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 4 carries. Jayon Gillett added 22 yards and a touchdown on 4 carries, while Cleveland also contributed 16 rushing yards.
Defensively, the Rams were relentless. Ethan Lizama led the charge with 3 tackles for loss (TFLs), a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection. Ayvion Harper and Samuelo Tofaeono each recorded 2 sacks and a TFL, while Lorenz Cammon added 2 TFLs, a fumble recovery, and 3 tackles. Dallas Fatutoa was a force with 2 TFLs and 4 tackles, and Tyler King anchored the line with 4 tackles. Additional contributions came from Michael Gamell (2 tackles), Simon Coleman (1 tackle), and Jeramie Johnson (1 tackle).
Coach Slover reflected on the team's journey: "Last year we shared the title, and that left a fire in our guys. They wanted to prove they could stand alone at the top—and they did just that. Now we've got one more game to finish the job."
The Rams will host the American Division Championship Bowl Game at home on Sunday, November 16th at 3:00 PM, and the community is invited to come out and support the team as they look to cap off a historic season.
