Lights Out Performance: Rams Football Dominate Desert

The Victor Valley College Rams continued their dominant 2025 campaign with a commanding 53-20 victory over the Desert Roadrunners in Cathedral City on Saturday night. The win marks the Rams' seventh of the season and their third in the American Metro Conference, solidifying their position at the top of the Metro Conference standings with just two games remaining.
The game was called final with 14:20 left in the fourth quarter due to a stadium lighting malfunction, but by then, the Rams had already made a resounding statement.
Offensive Explosion
VVC wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, racking up 29 points in the first quarter and 24 more in the second, building an insurmountable 53-20 lead by halftime. Quarterback Seth Burbine led the aerial assault, completing 13 of 18 passes for 171 yards and 3 touchdowns, connecting with Ricky Sampson (2 receptions, 65 yards, 1 TD), Cael Meisman (7 receptions, 50 yards, 1 TD), and Don Henry (2 receptions, 21 yards, 1 TD).
On the ground, Teshawn Cleveland was electric, rushing for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 3 carries, including a 54-yard touchdown run. Carlos Amplayo added 73 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Jayon Gillett contributed both on the ground and through the air, scoring a rushing touchdown and throwing for 11 yards.
Defensive Standouts
The Rams' defense held Desert to just 20 points, shutting them out in the second half before the game was called. Quamaine Thomas led the defensive charge with 4 total tackles, a tackle for loss, and a 25-yard interception return. Samuelo Tofaeono added a sack for a 6-yard loss, while Jayden Woods and Kenneth Vinson Jr. each recorded interceptions.
Special Teams Shine
Kicker Angel Montero Sanchez was perfect on the night, going 6-for-6 on extra points and nailing a 44-yard field goal, contributing 9 points. Shane Young and Braylon Salazar provided solid punt return yardage, while Jalaun Miller led kickoff returns with 37 yards on two attempts.
Looking Ahead
With a 7-1 overall record and 3-0 in conference play, the Rams are firmly in the driver's seat for the American Metro Conference championship. With two games left in the regular season, VVC controls its destiny and looks to carry this momentum into the final stretch. The Rams will return to action for their last home game November 1, 2025 vs Compton (0-8, 0-3), aiming to clinch the conference title and continue their impressive season.
