Rams Stay Undefeated with Overtime Thriller Over San Bernardino Valley
September 20, 2025
Victorville, CA
The Victor Valley College Rams continued their perfect season with a dramatic 33-27 overtime victory over San Bernardino Valley on Saturday night at SBVC Stadium. In a game filled with momentum swings, clutch plays, and defensive grit, it was Jayon Gillett who delivered the final blow—a 14-yard touchdown run in overtime that sent the Rams sideline into celebration and kept their record unblemished at 4-0.
The Rams came out strong, striking first with a 38-yard field goal from Angel Montero Sanchez to take a 3-0 lead. After San Bernardino responded with a long touchdown run, VVC answered with a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Seth Burbine to Darren Gandy, reclaiming the lead at 10-7.
The second quarter was a rollercoaster. San Bernardino Valley scored twice to go up 27-24 before halftime, but the Rams showed resilience. Jayon Gillett powered in a 3-yard touchdown run midway through the quarter, and moments later, Ethan Lizama made the play of the game on defense—intercepting a pass and returning it 73 yards for a touchdown, giving VVC a 24-13 lead.
Despite surrendering two late scores before the half, the Rams defense regrouped and dominated the second half. They held the Wolverines scoreless for the final two quarters and overtime, thanks to relentless pressure and disciplined tackling. Lorenz Cammon led the way with 9 total tackles and a sack, while Tyler King, Adan Torres, and Samuelo Tofaeono each contributed key stops and quarterback pressures.
Offensively, Seth Burbine was steady under center, completing 21 of 33 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown. His favorite targets included Cael Meisman (5 receptions, 79 yards), Ricky Sampson (7 receptions), and Teshawn Cleveland (5 receptions). On the ground, Gillett was the star, rushing for 85 yards on just 10 carries, including the game-winning score.
Special teams also played a pivotal role. Angel Montero Sanchez was perfect on extra points and added a second field goal from 41 yards out to tie the game at 27 late in the third quarter. Punter Tremel Echols helped flip field position with four punts averaging 44.3 yards.
The Rams controlled the clock with nearly 40 minutes of possession and executed when it mattered most. In overtime, the defense held firm, and the offense wasted no time. On the decisive play, Gillett took the handoff, found a crease, and sprinted 14 yards into the end zone to seal the win.
