Rams Stay Perfect with Statement Win Over Santa Monica
September 13, 2025
Victor Valley College Football continued its undefeated run with a gritty 27-16 victory over Santa Monica College on Saturday night, improving to 3-0 on the season. The Rams overcame a slow start and leaned on a resilient defense and a second-half offensive surge to hand Santa Monica its first loss of the year.
First Half: Defensive Grit and Special Teams Keep Rams Close
Santa Monica struck first with a touchdown midway through the first quarter, but the Rams responded with a 28-yard field goal from Angel Montero Sanchez to close the gap. After trading field goals in the second quarter, including a 40-yard boot from Montero Sanchez just before halftime, VVC trailed 10-6 at the break.
Despite the deficit, Head Coach David Slover praised his team's composure: "I'm proud of how we stayed focused. Our defense was consistent all game, and that gave us the chance to turn things around."
Third Quarter: Rams Passing Attack Comes Alive
The Rams exploded in the third quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points. Quarterback Seth Burbine led the charge, finishing with 341 passing yards and 2 touchdowns on 24-of-41 attempts. The Rams' three third-quarter touchdowns came on drives of 82, 77, and 55 yards, showcasing the offense's growing rhythm and explosiveness.
