Baseball Shows Resilience and Brody Sappington Standouts During 2025–26 Season
The Victor Valley College baseball program completed its 2025–26 season with a young roster that gained valuable experience while continuing to build toward long‑term success. While the win‑loss results did not reflect the effort put forth throughout the year, the Rams demonstrated competitiveness, perseverance, and individual performances that highlighted the foundation being laid for the future.
Victor Valley remained committed to development, opportunity, and growth, with several student‑athletes stepping into major roles and making the most of their time on the field during a challenging Inland Empire Athletic Conference schedule.
Offensive Leaders and Consistency
Offensively, Brody Sappington emerged as one of the Rams' top performers, finishing the season with a .388 batting average, the highest on the team. Sappington collected 33 hits, including seven doubles, drove in 12 runs, and posted a .422 on‑base percentage, serving as a steady presence in the lineup. His efforts were recognized with Second Team IEAC All‑Conference honors as the designated hitter, capping off a strong individual campaign.
Aril Jackson provided consistency throughout the season, appearing in all 38 games, leading the team with 40 hits, while also adding 11 doubles, 15 RBIs, and solid defensive play. Isaac Jimenez delivered run production in the heart of the order, finishing with 20 RBIs, six doubles, and two home runs, while anchoring the infield defensively.
Quentin Krogsgaard and Johnny Barrientos also contributed steady production, combining for 26 RBIs, while Geoffrey Rodrigues added extra‑base hits and versatility both offensively and defensively.
Depth and Development Across the Roster
Victor Valley benefited from contributions throughout the lineup as players continued to grow into collegiate roles. Thomas Koupeny and Benjamin Carlson made the most of limited opportunities, both batting over .300, while Daniel Fernandez, Robert Ham, James Salazar, and Samuel Poser helped provide depth and flexibility as the Rams navigated injuries and lineup changes over the course of the season.
Several newcomers gained valuable experience, setting the stage for development moving forward while embracing increased responsibility against conference competition.
Effort on the Mound
The pitching staff faced a demanding schedule but consistently took the ball and competed. Multiple Rams made spot starts and relief appearances, gaining experience that will be instrumental moving forward. Mark Hyde, Cristobal Espino, and Kyle Morales logged significant innings, while others stepped into unfamiliar roles to support the team throughout the season.
The willingness of arms to answer the call — whether starting or coming out of the bullpen — reflected the team's commitment and resilience.
Building Toward the Future
While the 2025–26 season presented its challenges, it also provided meaningful opportunities for growth, development, and evaluation. With a roster featuring many underclassmen and athletes gaining game experience at the collegiate level, the Rams took important steps toward building continuity and depth.
The program now turns its focus to the offseason with an emphasis on development, recruitment, and returning stronger for the seasons ahead. With leaders emerging and experience gained across the roster, Victor Valley College baseball remains committed to continued progress.
