Baseball Picks Up Win at Barstow

Victor Valley College Rams Secure Thrilling IEAC Conference Win Against Barstow College

On April 17, 2025, the Victor Valley College Rams baseball team earned a hard-fought victory against Barstow College with an 11-9 win in an exciting IEAC conference matchup. This win brings the Rams' season record to 13-25 and their conference record to 9-13.

The game, held at Dale Fries Field in Barstow, saw the Rams take an early lead with three runs in the first inning, thanks to a two-RBI single by Isaac Jimenez and an RBI single by Ethan Cheek. Barstow responded with two runs in the bottom of the first, but the Rams maintained their momentum.

In the third inning, the Rams extended their lead with a series of key plays. Owen Fuoco singled to drive in a run, followed by Jordan Domingue reaching on an error that allowed two more runs to score. Domingue later scored on a passed ball, bringing the score to 7-2.

Barstow fought back with three runs in the fifth inning, capitalizing on errors by the Rams. However, Victor Valley continued to push forward, with John Lloyd and Eric Logsdon each contributing RBIs in the fifth inning to make it 9-6.

The game tightened in the eighth inning as Barstow managed to tie the score at 9-9. But in the ninth inning, Omar Rosas delivered a clutch two-run homer, driving in Aiden Caporale and sealing the victory for the Rams.

Victor Valley's pitching staff played a crucial role in the win. Carter Wood started the game, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing seven runs (three earned) while striking out four. Luke Riggs and Ian Razo provided relief, with Razo earning the win and Zachary Viramonte securing the save with a solid final inning.
