VVC Athletics Celebrates 2025–26 Season at Annual End-of-Year Banquet and Hall of Fame Ceremony
Victor Valley College Athletics proudly celebrated the conclusion of the 2025–26 season at its annual End-of-Year Banquet and Hall of Fame Ceremony, held on May 22 at the VVC Educational Event Center. The evening brought together student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni, and supporters to recognize outstanding achievements across academics, athletics, and service to the college.
The event began with a welcome from Master of Ceremonies Chris Nunez, followed by a year-in-review presentation from Dean of Kinesiology, Health, and Athletics and Athletic Director Artie Allen, who highlighted the accomplishments and growth of VVC Athletics throughout the year.
Ram Scholar Athletes of the Year
One of the evening's most prestigious honors, the Ram Scholar Athlete of the Year Award, was presented to Chloe Bledsoe (Softball) and Rudy Correa (Football). Both student-athletes maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during their time at Victor Valley College, demonstrating exceptional dedication to their academic and athletic pursuits.
The awards were presented by Coach Adam Santa Cruz and Coach David Slover.
The Ram Scholar Athlete Award recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement over at least two seasons of competition, while successfully balancing the demands of athletics and personal responsibilities.
Ram Excellence Award Winners
The Ram Excellence Awards, which honor student-athletes for their outstanding athletic performance and dedication to their craft, were presented to Seth Burbine (Football) and Myla Gibson (Basketball).
Coach David Slover and Coach Troy Hall presented the awards, recognizing both athletes for their exceptional individual performance, strong work ethic, and postseason recognition throughout the year.
Ram Coach of the Year
Football Head Coach David Slover was named the 2025–26 Ram Coach of the Year. The award recognizes a coach who has shown exceptional leadership, commitment, and the ability to lead their program with distinction.
The award was presented by Athletic Director Artie Allen, highlighting Coach Slover's impact on his program and his dedication to student-athlete success both on and off the field.
2026 Hall of Fame Inductees
A special highlight of the evening was the induction of three distinguished individuals into the Victor Valley College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Marie Vidana Barda (Cross Country, 1987, 1998) was honored for her significant contributions as a student-athlete and longtime member of the VVC community. A standout in women's cross country, she earned All-Conference honors and qualified for state championships, while also dedicating decades of service to the college in Fiscal Services. She was presented by Jaye Tashima, a lifelong friend and former colleague.
Jake Mullinax (Baseball, 2001–2002) was recognized as one of the most accomplished players in program history. A two-year captain who earned Conference MVP and First Team All-American honors, Mullinax continued his career at the University of Nebraska before being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He was presented by Nathanial Lambdin, his former college coach and current VVC Baseball Head Coach.
Terry Kurtz (Videography, 60+ Years) was honored for his lifelong dedication to athletics, education, and sports media. Known for his long-standing coverage of High Desert athletics, Kurtz has played a vital role in documenting and promoting local sports, including Victor Valley College. He was presented by Adam Santa Cruz, who has known Kurtz for over a decade through his involvement in the local sports community.
A Night of Celebration
The evening also featured a dinner, student-athlete recognition slideshow, and opportunities for attendees to connect and celebrate the collective accomplishments of VVC Athletics.
The banquet concluded with closing remarks, leaving attendees with a strong sense of pride in the success, growth, and continued momentum of Victor Valley College Athletics.
